Shabbat is considered the most important of all Jewish holidays. It is the day of rest and weekly observance of God’s completion of creation. Starting on Friday night an hour before sunset, it lasts for 25 hours until sunset on Saturday night.
Basic base for Chicken Soup, to which you can add matzo balls (another recipe shared here).
1 whole large white organic onion
2 cups large diced pieces of raw cleaned carrots
2 cups diced organic celery
1/2 Cup of good quality Olive Oil
1/3 finally chopped garlic
Chicken Bone Broth
6 - 6 1/2 Cups of all-purpose flower
1 tablespoon salt
3 tablespoon oregano
3 tablespoons fresh ground pepper
1 entire rotisserie chicken, de boned
In a large cast iron pot, add oil and bring to medium high. Once hot, add chopped onions, carrots, celery and garlic to medium high heat. Salt veggies at this time and Sauté until tender. 3-5 minutes.
Once veggies are tender, poor in bone broth and chicken sock. Add in remaining spices as well, and bring to a simmer. Once at a simmer add in the shredded chicken pieces.
Simmer on low for 2-4 hours.
At this time, you could add matzo balls to the soup or noodles, or rice. Cook to starches instructions.
